Established in 1958, Fleetwood began
recording Sports Albums in 1966. The
first "Havlicek Stole The Ball"
featuring highlights of the Boston
Celtic Championship Play-offs from 1956
to 1966. The following year Fleetwood
Records issued "The Impossible Dream,"
a recording that was originally a radio
special put together by radio station
WHDH and highlighted the Red Sox
incredible season of 1967. |

1967
- "The Impossible Dream" The
Broadway melody that became the theme
song for the team, tells the story of
the American League's champion "Cardiac
Kids." The "Voice of the Red Sox," WHDH
Sports Director Ken Coleman, did the
narration.
The cover artwork depicts a Red Sox hitter, breaking out of the batters
box. The back has a black & white team
picture. Featured songs: "The
Impossible Dream," "Take Me Out to the
Ball Game," and "Shoutin' Liza
Trombone."
The
NBD - National Bank if Detroit,
presents the Official 1968 Detroit
Tigers Album. Narrated by Ernie Harwell
& Ray Lane, the album tells the story of a team, and of a city that was touched by
baseballs great impact. The 1968
American League
champion Detroit Tigers.
"The Year
of the Tiger '68" cover artwork
depicts a Detroit Tiger player sliding
into home. The Tigers team picture on
the back has inserted pictures of
broadcasters Harwell & Lane, owner John
Fatzer, VP-General Manager James
Campbell, and Manager Mayo Smith.

- The Red Sox Super Star and athlete of
the year talks with sportscaster Curt Gowdy about batting, fielding and
physical conditioning ...an ideal
recording for little leaguers and
aspiring ball players.
The record sleeve illustrates Carl Yastrzemski instructing a little
leaguer the skills of hitting and
fielding. The back sleeve pictures Gene
Berde, Yaz's personal trainer, and a
daily 10 step training exercise program
to the right.
Introduced by James Stewart and
narrated by Curt Gowdy,
"Baseball - The First 100 Years,
Official Centennial Record Album"
was released in 1969. Written by Sam
Miller, and produced by Larry Miller,
the 1960's Psychedelic style cover was
designed by American commercial
illustrator Bob Peak.
He is best known for innovative designs
of the modern movie posters that
include West Side Story and My Fair
Lady.
From Marvelous Marv to a Miracle...
That's the story of
the "Amazin" World Champion New York
Mets, a team that excited a nation.
Narrated by broadcaster Lindsey Nelson
the record covers the New York Mets
history from 1962 through the lean
years to 1968, and their 1969 world
championship season.
Released by the Fleetwood Recording Co. in 1969, the album uses
Play-by-play tapes provided by WJRZ
radio, the NY Mets Flagship Station and
WHN Radio.
1970
Battling Bucs
- Murtaughs Marauders make this album an exciting
happening. The story of a hard fought
season and a division title. Narrated
by Bob Prince this album tells the
story of the 1970 Pittsburgh Pirates
through exciting play-byplay action for
the division championship.
The front cover artwork depicts manager Danny Murtaugh looking on as
Roberto Clemente rounds the bases.
1970:
Year Of The Birds - The World Champion
Baltimore Orioles and all the
play-by-play excitement. Brooks, Frank, Boog and all the rest. A baseball
buffs..must! Narrated by Chuck Thompson
and Bill O'Donnell, the cover, in Oriole
Orange, lists Baltimore's 30 man roster
with player's uniform numbers. Seven
players are randomly pictured.
The back has a write-up by Lou Hatter of the Baltimore Sun, followed by a
team photo, with inserts of Jim Hardin
and Clay Dalrymple.
1970 -
"The Big Red Machine" Narrated by Jim
Mcintyre, and Joe Nuxhall. Exciting
play-by-play action of the Cincinnati
Reds drive to the N.L. Pennant. It all
started that day during the summer of
1969 when Pete Rose came out and called
it "The Big Red Machine" That is when
the magic started.
The cover art depicts Manager Sparky Anderson driving the Big Red machine
with his player passengers. The back
has a write-up by Bob Hertzee of the
Cincinnati Enquirer.

This 1975 Fleetwood album title

albums were released until 1980, when
ESPN, the networks, and leagues, wanted
to capitalize on releasing their own
highlights. Fleetwood was no longer
allowed to make highlight albums, and
lost the rights to them. |
